Family owned Safeguard Coaches of Guildford is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The firm, headquartered in Guildford Park Road, Guildford, has been in the ownership of the Newman family since 1924 and is now owned by the 4th and 5th generations of the family.
Safeguard Coaches celebrated the 90th anniversary of the firm's uniterupted operation as the premier coach hire operator in Surry and Hampshire with a charity open day, raising money for the British Heart Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital. The event was opened by the Mayor of Guildford and saw the people of Guildford and bus enthusiasts from across the country flocked to Safeguard Coaches’ depot in Ridgemount, Guildford.
The open day showcased new and old vehicles and the launch of a commemorative book charting the history and people of the firm. There was a beer tent selling a specially commissioned Safeguard commemorative.
